Kitchens with a gas boiler: design - questions and solutions
In modern new buildings, autonomous heating systems are increasingly being used, which allow residents to not depend on the mood of utilities. The apartments are equipped with units that create a comfortable indoor temperature for a particular family. The owners of these apartments are truly fortunate: when the whole city is tightly awaiting a treasured connection in the dank autumn, they launch a gas boiler in one motion and, voila, it becomes warm and comfortable in the house. However, even these minions of fortune during the repair are faced with a difficult task: how to think over the design of a kitchen with a gas boiler? The most interesting thing in creating such an interior is to decide how to beat this complex mechanism, so that, depending on individual preferences, it will either solo or dissolve in the kitchen ensemble.
Gas services operate on the principle of “Don’t!”, You should always remember this and try to design the kitchen with artistic means so that it is convenient for your family, makes an indelible impression on the guests, but does not infuriate the engineers serving the VDGO. Do you need fines?
So, what requirements must be observed when planning a kitchen with a boiler?
|Ceiling at least 2.5 m high|
|The volume of the room (air inside it) is at least 15 cubic meters.||Combine the kitchen with the dining room (not the living room!), Leaving an open doorway and thus increase the amount of air.|
|Ventilation, providing for 1 hour at least three times the air exchange in the room|
|A window with a mandatory window and a glass (light opening) size of 0.03 sq.m. per 1 cubic meter room volume||Now, during construction, double-glazed windows without windows are used and gas services "turn a blind eye to this"|
|The door between the kitchen and living rooms with a distance from the door leaf to the floor surface of at least 2 cm.||If the classical door is categorically not convenient for you (the layout of the room does not allow you to take into account all the rules), use sliding doors, sliding doors (going into the wall), accordion doors|
It is very important: well understand the norms of SNiP "Gas Supply" yourself. Of course, you trust your designer, he is a professional. But in practice it often happens that it is better to check everything yourself.
In a new building, private house, old apartment
When you buy a new apartment with the AOGV system, you already get a room with a wall-mounted gas boiler, which is located where the gas men placed it. Its transfer is fraught with great technical, paper, temporary and financial difficulties, so it’s easier to leave everything as it is, and hide the device and pipes in a furniture column, which will fit in a row with all the cabinets of the headset. With this type of placement, it is necessary to leave the top of the column open, provide a large hole in the bottom (it can be camouflaged with a ventilation grill like an integrated refrigerator) to ensure the necessary air exchange, and calculate the internal dimensions of the case so that the required air gaps remain. Yes, and the room thermostat will have to be made remote so that it measures the actual temperature of the room air.
Without erecting a complex structure, but leaving the unit open, you can place it in a series of kitchen cabinets, matching the color. Beige, dull gray, silver, yellow, bright red, coffee, blue, lingonberry, charcoal black - modern appliances have the widest color range. Or ask the graffiti masters - they will paint the front panel in all the colors of the rainbow. And your “warm” friend will look great in tone of furniture or in contrast with it.
If you are the owner of a private house, how you will arrange the necessary equipment and attach kitchen furniture to it depends on only three factors:
- your imagination;
- the size of the room;
- preferred style.
Do not forget to put a non-combustible floor covering in the area where the gas boiler is located, even if you have oak flooring in the rest of the area.
In the old (pre-revolutionary) houses and buildings of the times of the Stalinist Empire, niches are found in almost every room for cooking. But if you do not have it, then you can design it yourself, and entrust the implementation to the masters. By visually changing the space, transforming its volumes, you will make it more non-standard, and the interior will only benefit from this.
A gas boiler, hidden in a niche made of hot water or light blocks, and closed with mesh doors that duplicate kitchen facades or imitate Italian shutters (if you prefer retro style) will be perceived by the eye as an interesting volume of the wall, a highlight of the layout. When entering the device into a niche, it is imperative to provide for a small gap between it and the internal surfaces of the box, which are finished with non-combustible materials or covered with special paint. The distance from the walls to the unit should be at least 2-3 cm on each side.
Gas boiler as an art object
The easiest way to make a gas boiler is the focus of your kitchen universe, if the kitchen design is made in the following styles:
- Futuristic minimalism (then numerous pipes that are intertwined at impossible angles can be easily decorated, and the whole structure will look like an installation from the Museum of Modern Art).
The range of modern gas boilers is very wide: from replicas of old equipment with an external case made of polished copper, everything inside is done with the latest technology, huge floor systems that combine many functions and resemble English Victorian stoves, to models that look like an appliance, taken from a spaceship.
If your artistic taste is consistent with the available cash, then such a unit can become a dominant, the center of attention of the kitchen-dining room. Ask yourself: are you ready for the constant admiration of everyone who sees this miracle and the praises flattering your pride? If so, then a kitchen design revolving around a gas boiler is an option for you!
Gas boiler in a small kitchen
How many square meters should the room area be in order for gas equipment to be allowed in it? Make a start from Khrushchev - they have at their disposal only 4-5 sq.m. The smaller the space, the more interesting is the task that the designer will have to realize (or to you - if you took this role upon yourself).
Professional consultants will help you choose a worthy result of technological progress in terms of capacity and characteristics, but decide which is better: floor or wall, you will have to. Now the most popular attachments, they are smaller in size, but not inferior to their mundane counterparts in performance. So, it would seem, the choice is obvious. But this is only if you start the repair from scratch. And if you are doing repairs in an old apartment and changing an expensive item is there no possibility or desire?
In a small kitchen, it is better to use a boiler in the upper part of the room. You can not cover it with a removable box or an imitation of a fragment of a kitchen set. But even if you planned the floor, then place it against the wall (corners) where the door is located. According to the laws of psychology of perception, a person pays less attention to objects located on the side and behind him when he enters the room. The best option is the left position, because most people start the review on the right.
When designing the design of a small kitchen with an outdoor gas boiler, you further narrow the scope of possible design discoveries. Use shades of white on large planes (walls, ceilings, floors, curtains or blinds), it is optimal in this case, choose open shelves, reduced dimensions of kitchen furniture and a snow-white boiler. General minimalism and monochrome help to make the room airy, providing more free living space.
In order for everyone in the house, especially in a wooden one, to live happily ever after and gather with the whole family in a warm beautiful kitchen to drink tea with buns, when developing a kitchen interior design that includes a gas boiler on the wall, pay attention to the following points:
- Be sure to consider the placement of gas detectors (gas leakage sensors). These devices are almost invisible, but can save your life.
- Trust the connection of gas equipment only to authorized specialists.
- Provide a ventilation device so that the flow of fresh air into the room is constant.
